Monero (XMR) is a proof-of-work cryptocurrency heavily focused on privacy. One of its distinctive features is an opaque blockchain, which doesn’t allow tracking of transactions (receiver, sender and amount sent). It achieves this by using so-called Stealth Addresses, Ring Signatures and Ring CTs.

Unlike BTC, XMR is completely fungible, i.e. each coin is indistinguishable and interchangeable with one another. The cryptocurrency has almost reached its maximum number of minted coins; once it does, its miners will be paid in "tail emissions": a small amount of XRM fed into the system as a reward. Mining Monero doesn’t require complex equipment, and each block takes approximately 2 minutes to solve.

Important: please note that XMR deposits and withdrawals are currently not supported. You can buy, exchange and store XMR. If you'd like to receive or send it, you'll have to first exchange it for a currency which supports crypto deposits and withdrawals – you can always check with the list in this article.
