EU residents can now preorder the Cryptopay debit card. The official launch is coming soon, and by preordering, you’ll unlock exclusive perks.

In this article, we will tell you how to change the PIN code for your card using the iOS app. You can also read the detailed guides on how to do it using our Android app.

Once your card is issued, the PIN code is automatically assigned to it. You can read how to retrieve it in your Cryptopay account here.

Please kindly note that you can change the current PIN code to the one you want at any time. To do this:

  1. Go to the Cards tab.

  2. Tap on the icon ⚙️ in the top right corner.

  3. Choose Change PIN.

  4. Enter your new PIN code and confirm it.

Congratulations, you have changed the PIN code for your Cryptopay card!

Please note: When you change your PIN in Cryptopay, only your online PIN is affected. The online PIN is the PIN stored in our database, and it is used for ATM and contactless POS (Point of Sale) transactions. The offline PIN is typically used for regular POS transactions. Unfortunately, we cannot change the offline PIN stored on your card’s chip remotely, so ATMs or POS terminals* may show you a 'Wrong PIN' error message when trying to make a transaction.

To update your offline PIN, you need to synchronize the PIN code at an EMV-enabled ATM* manually. Please insert your Cryptopay card into such an ATM and perform any operation that requires a PIN (e.g. you can just check the card balance). To complete the operation, please enter your new PIN.

*Over 95% of transactions in Europe are on EMV-enabled devices. EMV stands for Europay, MasterCard and Visa and refers to the increased security of payment card transactions through the use of a chip embedded in credit, and debit cards. However, some old ATMs might still not be able to connect to your card chip and update your offline PIN. Unfortunately, this is something out of our control since it depends on the payment terminal software.
